Highlights EASA – CWIEME Berlin Conference & Networking 2025
On the afternoon of June 2nd, 2025, the EASA Europe, Asia & Africa Chapter brought together members from across the region in Berlin for an engaging and forward-focused gathering held just before the CWIEME Berlin exhibition. As an official association partner of CWIEME, EASA continues to offer valuable opportunities for professionals in the electromechanical sector to meet, exchange knowledge, and shape the future of the industry.
This pre-fair event has become a key moment in our annual calendar, offering space for networking, technical presentations, and important discussions about where the industry is heading. This year’s theme, “The future of service businesses in times of uncertainties and opportunities,” focused on the importance of innovation, flexibility, and investment in people and processes to remain competitive in a fast-changing world.
The event opened with an address from Frédéric Beghain, who shared an update on industry trends and EASA’s current priorities. His remarks emphasized the importance of collaboration, clear communication, and continuous learning as the best tools for overcoming today’s challenges.
We were pleased to welcome Nicola Acampora, Head of Growth at CWIEME Events, who offered useful advice on how to get the most out of this year’s exhibition. His contribution also marked the introduction of a new joint initiative between EASA and CWIEME: the Service & Solutions Centre. Located in Hall 25 near the Power Hub, the centre is a dedicated space for meetings, learning, and exchanging ideas between service providers, OEMs, suppliers, and industry professionals.
The technical program continued with a presentation by Tracy Queen of ICC International, who focused on the role of DC motors in today’s industrial market. Her analysis showed that DC motors remain in strong demand due to their simplicity, durability, and precise control, and highlighted future opportunities for companies offering service and support in this area.
Bjørn Eirik Mjåtveit of Aeron AS followed with a case study on sustainability in offshore installations. By improving HVAC and cooling systems, his team achieved energy savings and reduced environmental impact. His presentation showed how real-world engineering solutions can deliver both ecological and financial results.
The next session, led by James Stevens and Arwyn T. from Preformed Windings, explored the topic of Partial Discharge (PD) and its effect on motor performance and lifespan. They shared practical techniques for reducing PD through better coil design and materials, and announced the 2025 launch of Preformed Windings Labs, a new research center that will support innovation and knowledge-sharing in this important area.
Jannes Plietker of Menzel Elektromotoren GmbH presented on the correct selection of IVIC classes—a technical but essential topic for modern motor systems. His clear explanation of voltage levels, wave reflections, and Power Drive Systems helped participants better understand the risks and standards involved in insulation coordination.
The final session of the day was led by Saqib Saeed from Matos AI, who introduced a new, data-driven method for tracking trends in the electromechanical service industry. By using artificial intelligence to collect and analyze public information, Matos helps companies see patterns and make decisions faster and with greater confidence.
The event closed with time for networking and discussion, giving attendees the chance to continue conversations and strengthen professional connections. Once again, this pre-fair meeting proved to be a valuable and productive moment for our community.
