Nice 2023 Convention Highlights
Celebrating the Success of EASA Europe, Asia & Africa Chapter Annual Convention 2023 in Nice.
The annual convention of the EASA Europe Asia & Africa (EASA EAA) chapter, held in Nice from October 5th to 7th, 2023, marked a resounding success, offering two days filled with enlightening presentations and invaluable networking opportunities. With a record-breaking turnout of 150 participants hailing from 84 companies representing 30 different nations, the convention left an indelible mark on all attendees.
The convention kicked off with a presentation by Bjorn Mjatveit, President of EASA European and World Chapter, who introduced the main theme of the Convention: “People drive success.” This theme highlights the critical role that individuals play in the growth of our industry, emphasizing their talents, skills, and dedication as the driving force behind innovation and progress.
Edwin den Breejen, Vice President, and Frederic Beghain, General Manager, laid out a compelling vision for the future of our Chapter by presenting the new strategy: “Stronger Together, Shaping the Future.” The new Chapter name and logo were unveiled as well. The new identity, “EASA Europe, Asia & Africa Chapter,” reflects our commitment to unity, inclusion, and diversity within our region.
An important moment during the convention was the presentation of the 2023 EASA Karsten Moholt Exceptional Achievement Award to Alican Bütün from Coil Partners in Turkey, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the industry.
The convention featured an extensive range of topics, including discussions on sustainability and energy savings with a focus on the circular economy in our industry, as well as the role of artificial intelligence in predictive maintenance, new trends and technologies, workshop management, human resources, and apprenticeship programs. Each presentation was followed by an engaging Q&A session that encouraged active debate. Furthermore, the event provided numerous networking opportunities that not only broadened the knowledge of the participants but also encouraged the emergence of innovative ideas and partnerships.
On the second day, each committee and working group presented its annual reports, briefing all chapter members on projects and activities. Additionally, the EASA9 annual general meeting took place, resulting in the appointment of new officers. Edwin den Breejen now assumes the role of President, with Richard Emery taking on the position of Vice President. Congratulations to Edwin and Richard as they embark on their journey to foster growth and encourage collaboration throughout our region 9.
We want to express our sincere thanks to all the speakers who shared their expertise and made the convention a success.
