EASA’s Technical Consultant Recognised by IEC

It is always nice to receive recognition in any job but when it is from a group of your peers it is very special
EASA’s Technical Consultant, John Allen was recently awarded the IEC 1906 award for his work in the area repair and design techniques of explosion proof electrical machines. The citation went on to say ‘his exceptional contribution related to the development of IEC 60079-19 Ed4’.

EASA are indebted to John’s voluntary work over many years guiding EASA European & World Chapter though all aspects of technical support including representing EASA on IEC committees worldwide. Many of our members employees have undergone training with John in a number subjects but it is perhaps in the area of Ex Motor Repair where he has been most involved not only in training and technical advice but he was also involved in designing and updating of EASA’s Ex repair training course many years ago.

John’s career and experience spans many years and has included various technical, management and senior management positions at H J Scotts, BERL, Dowding & Mills and Sulzer before founding his own consultancy company Sheppard Engineering which he still runs today. He has also represented EASA International on standards setting bodies.
Never has there been a more deserving recognition, and on behalf of all our worldwide members we say thank you and well done.
